Chris Koehs, is highly networked entrepreneur with a background in business, politics and international trade relations. He presently works with a number influencers in South Africa and the United States including the former US Presidential Candidate and Civil Rights Leader Reverend Jesse Jackson, Treasurer General of the African National Congress Dr. Zweli Mkhize, Chairperson of Community Investment Holdings Dr Anna Mokgokong. In partnership with the Office of the Premier in KwaZulu-Natal he established the African Economic Expansion Network and Summit platform to facilitate partnerships and showcase infrastructure developments from the African continent and international hosting strategy used by the Premier to host international dignitaries before all Durban’s FIFA 2010 World Cup games.
Mr. Koehs owns stakes in a diverse portfolio of South African and United States based companies with interest in medicine, steel, renewable energy, agriculture, mining, tech and petrochemicals. Over the past 10 years he has facilitated over 30 trade missions between South Africa and the United States. During these trade missions delegates have been honoured with the government of South Africa’s highest civilian award, Companions of OR Tambo, International Leadership Award and Honorary Doctorates to name but a few. Recipients have included Rev Jesse Jackson, CIH Chairperson Dr Anna Mokgokong, ANC Treasurer General Dr Zweli Mkhize, First Lady Dr. Bongi Ngema Zuma, Minister Mr. Mike Mabuyakhulu, Minister Ms. Nomusa Dube, Minister Dr. Sbongseni Dhlomo and Minister Belinda Scott and Minister Ina Cronje to name but a few.
Prior to entering business Mr. Koehs was a Director in Corporate Relations at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Campaign Manager and staffer for Civil Rights Leader U.S. Congressman John Lewis and Atlanta City Council Cllr. Kwanza Hall and worked directly under the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s General Councillor and Vice-President. Chris graduated with a BA in Political Science Pre-Law and International Relations from Morehouse College in Atlanta and pursued a MA in Public Policy Department, which he helped to establish at the University of KwaZulu-Natal prior to becoming a Director at for the University’s Corporate Relations department.
