Wilmot Allen is Founder of the Partnership for Urban Innovation. He also works as Director of East Africa in Nairobi with CrossBoundary, LLC, a U.S. investment firm focusing on frontier markets. In this capacity, he also leads the transaction team for the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub, a flagship enterprise of the US Presidential Trade Africa initiative. Prior, He worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with the private equity funds team, responsible for new investments and portfolio supervision. At IFC, Wilmot was also senior advisor to the CEO on entrepreneurship and co-developed IFC’s strategy for fragile states and conflicted-affected areas. Wilmot previously worked in technology M&A investment banking with JPMorgan Hambrecht & Quist, in venture capital with Commonwealth Enterprise Fund, and in finance and strategy with the ABC Television Network (Walt Disney Company). He is a member of the Expert Network on Sustainable Development at the World Economic Forum, where he was selected previously as a Young Global Leader. Wilmot is a PhD Candidate in comparative political economy at Georgetown University and holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business, M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School and B.A. from Yale University.
