Ran was the founder and CEO of Snaptu, a Sequoia-based company, which he sold to Facebook in 2011. Snaptu, which is now known as “Facebook for Every Phone” and “Facebook Lite” has reached 200 million active users and over a billion downloads. After integrating Snaptu into Facebook he continued to make significant contribution to the company’s growth by building and launching Internet.org, Facebook’s ambitious plan to connect the whole world to the internet. Through his tenure at Facebook, Ran has demonstrated his unique ability to leverage data, deep market analysis, and product innovation to create high growth initiatives even in the most challenging business environments.
Ran has more than 20 years of experience in the tech industry, specializing in mobile, growth, and data. He was an early employee at Odigo, which was acquired by Comverse, and ran product management at Followap, which was acquired by NeuStar. Ran holds a computer science degree and an MBA.
